Le Chemin de Fer Metropolitain de Paris. 67 pp. Illustrated with 13 coloured plates (statistics, diagrams, plans), 4 coloured plates (after drawings by R. Ménager) and numerous photo illustrations in the text. Small Folio, 245 x 320 mm, bound in original silver boards, with coloured decorations. [Paris: Ateliers ABC, 1931].
A desirable publication published to mark the opening of the 8th "undergroundline," from the center of Paris to Port de Picpus & Charenton, with which one could also reach the 1931 Expo Coloniale Internationale. Background information on the history of the Paris Metro, illustrated with fine photographs of the work in progress, stations, coaches, etc. In a fine Art Deco typography, especially notable in the covers, chapter headings, title page and endpapers.
Surprisingly rare with only five copies located in the US at Princeton, Yale, Columbia, The Smithsonian, and The Wolfsonian. Spine rubbed at the head and tail with some loss to the silver, overall some minor wear, a very good copy.
