Allo! Paris! By Joseph Delteil. 110, [6] pp. Illustrated with 20 full page black-&-white lithographs by Robert Delaunay. 4to., 282 x 225 mm, bound in publisher’s printed wrappers. Paris: Editions des Quatre chemins, 1926.
One of 325 copies on Arches, this being one of the hor-commerce copies from a total edition of 365. Incribed by Delteil to Albert Thibaudet on the front fly-leaf.
‘A much underrated modernist, Robert Delaunay had a strong influence on Klee, Marc, and August Macke…Allo! Paris! represented Delaunay’s most extensive involvement as a book illustrator. The recognizable views of Paris in this volume range from the straightforward to those rendered in a truly cubist manner, such as the Eiffel Tower and St. Séverin.’ (Johnson, p 114).
A fine mostly unopened copy with just the slightest trace of spotting here and there.
