Le Paradis des Soviets. [Cover title]. Unpaginated, [24] pp including covers. Illustrated throughout with photographs and photomontage. Small folio, 270 x 215, bound in publisher’s photographic wrappers. [Paris: Le Comité d'Action Antibolchevique, 1941].
A staunchly anti-Soviet and anti-Semitic publication, oddly deploying El Lissitzky’s hi-design concept of thumb tabs from his famous edition of Mayakovsky’s Dlya golosa published in 1923. Here, the tabs include photographs of prominent Soviet figures of Jewish heritage and several pages are dedicated to demonstrating ties between Jews and Soviets. This is followed by unnerving images of famine and massacre.
Some minimal creasing else fine. A remarkable survival given its fragile format and upsetting content. Rare, OCLC finds 4 copies in the US; UCLA, Harvard, University of Michigan and University of Virginia.
